APW - Elgin, Convertible model, Grade 49, 15J, 16S, heavy 14K gold K&U Mfg Co. (Keller & Untermeyer) HC recase with front and rear detail of alternating wavy stripes of fluting and vermicelli engraving detail, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, gilt mvt, s#1326955. Gross weight of assembled watch 76.2 dwt (118.5 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Ticking sluggishly on a full wind, setting mechanism is engaging in the counter-clockwise direction but is slipping and disengaging when clockwise setting is attempted, overhaul needed, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, darkened gilt tone, some fine scratches and surface spots; dial with hl at 7:30, small flake at upper-left rim of center hole, edge flake near 10; fine hands, minute with bends, hour is poorly fit being loose and moving readily out of position with only a minimal contact; case shows hardly any wear, dent to band at 10:30, some scattered dings elsewhere to band, superb crisp engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
